1,2,3, SCD!

Check out this great blog by a young lady and her experiences with the SCD.

She is amazing and inspiring. Go Johanna, go!

NiMBAL

Nutrition in Immune Balance or NiMBAL is a great companion to the book Nutrition In Immune Balance (NIMBAL) Therapy: Using Diet to Treat Inflammatory Bowel Disease written by Dr. David Suskind.

The “Diet” in the title of the book is the SCD. I became aware of Dr. Suskind’s work from my communications with Tali from Gut Harmony.

You should check it out.

Check out the Gut Harmony blog

I get a fair number of comments on this blog thanking me for helping them or their kid get started on the SCD. It’s gratifying to get these comments, but it is one-to-one, or piecemeal process instead of a more network effect. This is fine, I’m not complaining or saying it’s not important, but you should really check out what Tali is doing over at Gut Harmony.

Her family used SCD to help treat her son with CD. That alone doesn’t make their story terribly unique. What does set it apart is what she is doing with the GI doctors at the Seattle Children’s Hospital. It is absolutely awesome and gives me hope for a wider acceptance of the SCD as a treatment option for IBD.

You should head on over to her blog and at least read the Milestones in our Timeline post.

Thanks Tali!

League of Mortals

LofM

I’ve mentioned Crohnology.com and the Chronology blog before and I think they are both great. If you haven’t visited them, do yourself a favor and check them out.

I wanted to tell Duncan that I think he does a great job on the blog and found his personal blog in that pursuit. There I discovered his book League of Mortals and finished it just today.

You should read it.

You’ll probably identify with Wesley. You may shed a tear. I can’t remember my life in that much detail and he does it with an honesty and snark that I can really appreciate.

And it’s a steal on kindle for $3.

IBDwatch

I’ve been following this site for a while and just realized I hadn’t told y’all about it. It’s written by Brandon Wuerth, an Internal Medicine resident at the Medical University of South Carolina who happens to have Crohn’s.

It’s chock full of all kinds of good stuff. I’ve recently been watching videos from a continuing educational series, “Mastering Clinical Challenges and Emerging Therapies in IBD.” Targeted at doctors, some details are over my head, but I always find it interesting to hear what doctors are telling each other about IBD treatment.
